Teen Therapy in Austin, TX
The teenage years are a lot.
Between the social pressures, the identity questions, the emotional intensity, and the physical changes happening all at once — it can feel like there's no solid ground to stand on. For some teens, this shows up as anxiety or irritability. For others it's withdrawal, shutting down, or feeling like nobody really understands what's going on inside.
If your teenager is struggling, it doesn't mean something is wrong with them. It usually means they're carrying more than they know how to handle alone.
Is teen therapy right for your child?
Teen therapy may be a good fit if your teenager is experiencing:
Persistent anxiety, worry, or panic
Mood swings, irritability, or emotional outbursts
Withdrawal from family, friends, or activities they used to enjoy
Struggles with self-esteem or identity
Difficulty at school related to focus, motivation, or peer relationships
The aftermath of a difficult experience or life transition
A general sense of feeling lost, stuck, or misunderstood
How I work with teens
I help teenagers find stability in their sense of self amidst the rapid changes they're experiencing. Rather than telling teens what to feel or how to behave, I meet them where they are — with curiosity, patience, and genuine respect for their inner world.
Using an attachment-based, somatic approach, I help teens:
Understand and regulate their emotions rather than being overwhelmed by them
Build a stronger, more grounded sense of identity
Identify their needs and communicate their boundaries
Navigate peer relationships and family dynamics with more confidence
Develop resilience so they can weather life's turbulence without losing themselves
What about parents?
Parents are a vital part of the process. While teen sessions are confidential, I stay in regular communication with parents about themes and progress — without betraying the trust of the teenager. For younger teens especially, parent check-ins help ensure everyone is moving in the same direction.
